Member Training: How blended finance supports project finance transactions in West Africa
Project financing is critical for the delivery of crucial utility-scale services that enable development in low and middle-income countries. However, the underlying demand and supply-side risks, such as uncertain off-take/distribution capacity, affordability of infrastructure services to end users, and currency devaluation among others have an impact on the project’s cash flows and viability. Blended finance offers a financial structuring approach that can leverage concessional capital to manage these risks, helping transactions get off the ground and mobilize private capital.
This webinar will feature two Convergence members West African Development Bank, InfraCredit Nigeria, and one partner organization, Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund. These three organizations have successfully supported various infrastructure projects in West Africa using a variety of concessional and commercial instruments. The session will begin with a brief overview from each organization, followed by a panel discussion with the representatives to delve into the details.
