About the Talk:
Garri will provide an overview of records in Israel – what’s available and the best methodologies to use them. In conversation with Karen Franklin, she will demonstrate with "live" internet searches showing how to zone in on IGRA database records, records from the Israel State Archives (specifically the newly announced access to the Name Changes), searches in the Historical Jewish Press, and using burial (BillionGraves) and immigration records available on MyHeritage (free) as well as naturalization records from 1937 to1947.
About the Speaker
Garri Regev has lived in Israel since 1978 and has been doing genealogical research for over 25 years. She has taught seminars, webinars and courses in Genealogy to a variety of adult and teen groups. In addition, she has spoken at eleven IAJGS Conferences and was involved in programming and running the 2015 IAJGS Conference in Jerusalem. Garri is a founding member and immediate past-president of IGRA (Israel Genealogy Research Association). Garri currently volunteers at the Genealogy Center at the National Library of Israel and the Central Zionist Archives and serves as a Director on the Board of LitvakSIG.
