JGSGB D&S SIG: "The Etty Hillesum Research Centre" by Lotte Bergen
The Research Center was founded in 2006 by Professor Klaas A.D. Smelik and his collaborators at the time, all working at the University of Ghent. The aim of the EHRC was to promote scientific research into the writings and person of Etty Hillesum. One of the objectives was the publication of a periodical publication. This is where the results of this research could find a place. The yearbook was named Etty Hillesum Studies. In 2015 the EHOC moved to Middelburg. In Etty Hillesum's hometown, the Center was given its own space.
Lotte Bergen has been director of the EHOC since 1 October 2019.
