Fall into nature with Plantlife: Waxcap watercolours
If you explore wooded and grassed areas in the early winter months, you will discover a whole world of beautiful living organisms known as fungi. Join artist / tutor Beth Morris to create spooky characters inspired by the waxy, gem-like, shiny cups of this attractive fungi family. We’ll be using mixed media, collage and water-colour paint to develop a set of characters based on the expressively named Earth Tongues, Crimson, and the Glutinous Wax-caps. You will also need to get your imaginative brains working to try and decide on the personality of Mr Hygrocybe Puniecea!! Beth will demonstrate how to draw and paint the wax-caps, adding extra eerie and ghostly accessories fitting for the time of year. You will also learn to create a mind map in order to build your own Halloween story for these mysterious waxy creatures.
Beth Morris Workshops is a community art school in the heart of the Cardiff city offering creative workshops for all. Beth and her team of tutors run over 15 weekly workshops for students of all abilities aged between 2-90! Beth Morris Workshops is also home to many guest artists who run skilled specialist workshops at weekends. Beth also runs a very popular school-holiday programme that offers engaging art workshops to children and young people.
Now in her fifth academic year of business, Beth has embraced online learning and love nothing more to share her talents via zoom. Beth recently won the Creative category at The Cardiff Life Awards and has appeared on BBC’s The One Show.
