In her class 'Writing Tension and Plot Twists', bestselling author, executive producer, and storytelling consultant, Natali Simmonds, will be teaching:

  • How to build irresistible tension that keeps readers turning the pages
  • Raising the stakes and creating conflict that matters
  • Mastering suspense, pacing, and misdirection
  • Crafting plot twists that are both shocking and earned
  • Planting clues, foreshadowing, and delivering a satisfying ending.

Through bestselling novel case studies, practical examples, and writing exercises, you'll learn how to grip readers from the opening chapter, maintain momentum throughout your story, and deliver twists that surprise, delight, and linger long after the final page.

Natali says - "One of the biggest challenges writers face is maintaining momentum, avoiding the dreaded saggy middle, and providing an original 'I didn't see that coming' ending (it's how you get the best reviews). As someone with a notoriously short attention span, I write with the constant fear that a reader might put my novel down too soon. I can't wait to share my secrets of telling a story that's intriguing and propulsive, with an ending that no one saw coming."

Natali Simmonds is a British/Spanish fiction author who began her career in glossy magazines, then moved on to marketing and advertising before becoming a lecturer and consultant. Her first book was published in 2017.

As Natali Simmonds, she writes dark and twisty thrillers that have been translated into four languages, with her debut, Good Girls Die Last, in development for TV. She also co-writes paranormal romance as Caedis Knight alongside her best friend, Jacqueline Silvester. In 2022, she was shortlisted for the RNA Fantasy Award.

Natali lectures for The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Raindance Film School, Jericho Writers, and the Professional Writing Academy, and has her own column in King’s College London’s Inspire The Mind magazine. She is also the Head of Partnership Development and Communications for the London Latino Film Festival and founder of story consultancy, Loom Narrative. Natali loves to combine her passion for storytelling and film with her experience in sales, marketing, and partnership development, getting to work alongside groundbreaking creatives, brands, and cultural leaders.

Having lived all over the world, including Spain, the Netherlands, and Australia, Natali is happy to finally be back in her hometown of London.
