Masterpieces from Buckingham Palace II

The wealth of art in the Royal Collection is astounding, and even the selection which is usually hung in the Picture Gallery needs more time than the 20-30 minutes you might get there when visiting during the summer opening of the Palace. While the Picture Gallery itself is being refurbished, the paintings have been exhibited first in the Queen's Gallery in London, and now it is on the verge of opening at Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh.

So rich is the selection that I ran out of time to talk about even some of it when I tried not so long back. So here is the second part of my (extended) introduction to the exhibition.
This time we will get to grips with two fantastic portraits by Rembrandt - including Agatha Bas, who, despite being the 'Poster Girl' of the last talk, I didn't manage to get to. I will also recap Van Dyck - as I unfairly skimmed through his work - and we will look at the rich array of Italian works on view, from Titian to Gentileschi and from Lotto to Canaletto...

As ever, the talk will not be recorded
