at the Doge's Palace, Venice, until 18 June

From the end of last year until the beginning of this, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. hosted the exhibition Vittore Carpaccio: Master Storyteller of the Renaissance. A version of this exhibition is now on show in Carpaccio's home town, Venice - although some of the exhibits have returned to their homes in the city's museums and palaces. 

I will use the opportunity to take my usual stroll around the exhibition, breaking off to look at the paintings by Carpaccio that you will be able to see in La Serenissima even after the exhibition has closed - including his great masterpieces, the Legends of St Ursula, St Jerome and St George.
