Inspired by the National Gallery's exhibition Bellotto - The Königstein Views Reunited, this talk will introduce Bernardo Bellotto - nephew of the more famous Canaletto - and trace his travels to understand how this son of Venice ended up in Dresden. It will focus on the five paintings which the National Gallery has managed to bring together for the first time since they were painted in the 1750s, and so act as a perfect introduction to this small, but perfectly formed, exhibition - or perhaps make up in some small way if you are unable to make it to London before October 31 when it closes.
