A walk around New Shoreham
Sussex Archaeology and History Summer Walks with Dr Geoffrey Mead
Thursday 20th August 2026
A 90 min walk around New Shoreham
New Shoreham grew in the 13th century as a response to the changing nature of the river Adur mouth; this walk takes us through the street pattern near the historic St. Mary de Haura church and then across the river to study the physical landscape of the beach and its human landscape of houseboats and plotland development. We end up in the High Street convenient for buses and the train station.
Part of our summer walks with Geoffrey Mead, click here to book both talks for just £15
