In de vierde aflevering gaan we onderzoeken hoe de overtuiging veld won dat ziekte veroorzaakt wordt door externe ziekmakers. We zullen zien hoe eerst macrofagen aanzien werden als virussen van bacteriën, en hoe die illusie tenslotte zijn eigen leven ging leiden. Tot slot bestuderen we hoe het "genoom" van een "virus" wordt bepaald: via consensus op papier, en niét via experiment!
